📢 Notification & Schedule (AISSEE 2026)

Official dates for AISSEE 2026 will be announced by NTA. Based on the previous cycle, applications typically open in Oct–Nov and the exam is usually held in January. Note: AISSEE 2025 was rescheduled and conducted on 5 April 2025 (per NTA public notice). Always verify the latest dates on the NTA website.

  • Existing 33 Sainik Schools (MoD Sainik Schools Society)
  • Approved New Sainik Schools (Partnership model) — Class 6 for all, and Class 9 for 17 approved NSS as notified

🎯 Eligibility (as per last IB — subject to 2026 notice)

Class 6

  • Age: 10–12 years as on 31 March of the admission year (exact DoB window to be notified).
  • Gender: Boys & Girls eligible.

Class 9

  • Age: 13–15 years as on 31 March of the admission year (exact DoB window to be notified).
  • Education: Passed Class 8 from a recognized school at the time of admission.

🌐 Medium of Question Paper

  • Class 6: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu (choose one while applying; English version prevails in case of ambiguity, except for Language section).
  • Class 9: English only.

📚 Syllabus Overview

Class 6

Mathematics: Number System, Fractions & Decimals, Percentages, Ratio & Proportion, Simple Interest, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Mensuration (Area, Perimeter, Volume), Data Handling.
Intelligence: Analogies, Series, Classification, Coding-Decoding, Patterns, Spatial Reasoning.
Language: Comprehension, Vocabulary (Synonyms/Antonyms), Grammar (Parts of Speech, Tenses, Prepositions), Sentence formation.
General Knowledge: Science basics, Social awareness, India & World, Sports, Current Events (age-appropriate).

Class 9

Based on Class 8 level in Mathematics, English, Intelligence, General Science, Social Science (refer official syllabus in IB appendices).

🧾 Documents to Upload (at application)

  • Recent passport photo (10–200 KB), signature (4–30 KB), left thumb impression (10–50 KB) – JPG/JPEG.
  • Date of Birth certificate (Competent Authority), Domicile certificate, category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) certificate (if applicable) – PDF 50–300 KB.
  • Service certificate (serving defence)/PPO (ex-servicemen), if applicable.
  • Certificate from Principal for candidates studying in an approved New Sainik School (as applicable).

🎓 AISSAC e-Counselling (Post-Result)

  1. Register on the AISSAC portal, verify credentials.
  2. Choice filling of schools; lock preferences.
  3. Seat allotment as per AISSEE rank, category & domicile rules.
  4. Medical fitness at designated centres.
  5. Document verification at allotted school and fee formalities.

📊 Reservation Policy (Existing Sainik Schools)

  • Domicile Quota: 67% Home State/UT, 33% Other States/UT.
  • Within each quota: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27% (total 49.5%).
  • From remaining 50.5%: 25% for wards of Defence & Ex-servicemen.
  • Girls (Class 6): Minimum 10% seats or 10 seats (whichever higher), distributed category-wise (as per IB).

✅ Qualifying Marks

  • Existing Sainik Schools: Minimum 25% in each subject and 40% aggregate. (No minimum for SC/ST; admission via e-counselling & medical fitness.)
  • Approved New Sainik Schools: Minimum 25% in each subject and 40% aggregate for all categories.

📌 Important Instructions

  • Read the latest Information Bulletin carefully; follow the OMR instructions.
  • Select four preferred exam cities while applying; allotment may differ based on availability.
  • Carry admit card, valid photo ID and stationery (black/blue ball pen) as per IB.
  • Barred items: mobile phones, calculators, smart watches, paper notes, electronic gadgets, etc.

🧠 Preparation Tips

  • Target speed + accuracy; practice previous papers under real timing.
  • Prioritise Mathematics (Class 6: 150 marks; Class 9: 200 marks).
  • Build vocabulary & comprehension (daily reading); revise Class 8 NCERT basics for Class 9.
  • Use OMR mock sheets to avoid bubbling mistakes.
